Bio

Born and raised in the Marigny, my family moved to St. Bernard Parish when I was sixteen. I moved back to New Orleans at seventeen: I hated the 'burbs. Dropped out of college at 19 to hit the road hitch-hiking; had a lot of adventures. Grew up one day, and ended up back in St. Bernard Parish when my parents got older. In fact, just about my entire family, immediate and extended, ended up here to be close to aging parents. And...we all lost our homes. Before Katrina, I was a special education aide at STB High School and a fledgling freelance writer. Post-K, I'm a Pre-K classroom aide and have had several articles published. I write poetry and blogs on MySpace. Some of my poems have been published in anthologies. I'm doing what I can to help rebuild my community, and to support music and businesses in New Orleans, the home of my heart.
